After one year, David returned to the United Kingdom and worked as an administrator for TFL before deciding to return to EFL teaching and went to Japan, where he worked in a conversation school in Kobe, teaching young learners and adults.
After three years, David returned to the United Kingdom and was employed full time in the civil service, before leaving to work in a recruitment agency. In 2005, he realised that EFL was his true vocation and enrolled on a CELTA course to become a fully qualified EFL teacher. He was offered a job at a summer school in Ascot and returned every summer for the following six years in different roles. In 2014, David took up a full-time teaching position in Yokohama, Japan, where he progressed from English Instructor to Assistant Senior On-Site Instructor, helping to manage a team of 19 teachers.
