Regent's celebrates 2019 graduates

The Regent’s University London class of 2019 graduated in five ceremonies held over two days this summer, on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 July.

A beautiful two days of sunshine, 1,110 undergraduate and postgraduate students from across the two faculties – Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) and Business Management (BaM) – shook hands with the Chancellor, Lord Michael Hastings, and collected their degree certificates before celebrating with family and friends on Regent’s stunning Tuke Lawns.

Business and Management got the festivities underway, and Lord Hastings officially opened the ceremonies, telling the graduates:  ‘As your Chancellor, I am filled with immense pride in your achievement and with great hope for your prospects as the leaders of the future beyond Regent’s.

‘The sea of hopeful faces at graduation from every corner of the world is abundantly obvious and encouraging. I know, from the conversations I’ve had with many of you, that Regent’s graduates are young women and men of character and substance, stepping out into the world with an understanding of their responsibility to shape the future.

‘We need people who have chosen a life of integrity and service. It’s easy to be the same as your high achieving peers – it’s much harder to be different, to do difficult things and strive for noble goals exemplified by sacrifice, generosity and insightful engagement in the real world.’

The graduands were in good company, joining 2019 Honorary Senior Fellows, Lord Hannay of Chiswick, Professor Lord Norton of Louth, and Carole Baume.

The two days were also a chance to celebrate outstanding academic achievement, with presentations of awards from faculty Deans, Professor Michael Luger (BaM), and Professor Paul Ryan (HASS).
