Overview
Chris is a lecturer and researcher in the fields of cognitive psychology, behavioural neuroscience, and cyberpsychology. His PhD is currently investigating the effects of emoji on eye movements during reading, perceptual processing of sentences, and memory retrieval. Chris’s research interests include the use of textual shortcuts (for example, Text-speak) in online communication, cognitive offloading and the saving-enhanced memory effect, social media and virtual behaviour, and gaming behaviour.
After joining Regent's as a psychology laboratory technician, Chris became a member of academic staff as a Lecturer in Psychology in September 2021. Chris currently teaches topics on biological and cognitive psychology, research methods in psychology, and conceptual issues in psychology, on the MSc Psychology and BA Liberal Arts courses. He also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate course dissertation projects, such as investigating cognitive offloading to technology, and processing of online linguistic devices.
