Dr Neven Andjelic

Dr Neven Andjelic has been at Regent’s University London since January 2011 and has held roles as a lecturer, senior lecturer, reader and assistant professor in International Relations and Human Rights. He is currently Course Leader for BA (Hons) International Relations.

He was also Visiting Professor at the University of Bologna teaching the MA modules 'Yugoslav Crisis and Its Demise' and 'After Yugoslavia: Minorities and Human Rights in the Western Balkans'. He was Visiting Lecturer at the University of Saarland teaching the MA (LL.M.) module 'European System of Human Rights Protection', Visiting Senior Fellow at LSE and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Berkeley. 

Dr Andjelic's previous affiliations include Birkbeck College, Open University, the Universities of Sussex, Kent and Sarajevo, and Queen’s University Canada (International Studies Center in the UK). He served on the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities - Council of Europe from 2014 to 2018. Besides his academic activities, he was and remains an activist for human rights issues in his country of origin, Bosnia-Herzegovina. 

Dr Andjelic has also had a career in journalism. He has worked for CNN, BBC, ITN, Channel 4 in the UK and the leading media in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He writes for academic journals and publications and has published a book entitled Bosnia-Herzegovina: The End of a Legacy (2003). 

Neven often provides expertise in European affairs to governments and international organizations. These include the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Ministry of Defence, American State Department, Council of Europe, UNICEF, and diplomats from various countries. His latest book, Covid-19, State-Power and Society in Europe: Focus on Western Balkans, has been published in 2022 by Springer.

Dr Andjelic often provides expertise to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UNICEF, Council of Europe and several other national and international organisations and agencies.
