Professional Biography

Dr. Ozlem Ozdemir is an accomplished academic professional who currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship at Regent's University London. With a successful academic background and extensive prior experience, she brings an unparalleled level of knowledge and expertise to her role. Dr. Ozdemir's journey in academia is distinguished by her unwavering determination to explore and understand the intricacies of entrepreneurship. She holds a PhD in Family Businesses and Women's Entrepreneurship, which she earned from the University of Chester, Faculty of Business Enterprise and Lifelong Learning. Moreover, she holds an MBA in Cross-Cultural Management from the same institution, which showcases her unyielding commitment to academic excellence and professional development.

Before starting her academic career, Dr Ozdemir spent 15 years working for public and non-profit international organizations, where she excelled as a Research and Development Manager. Her real-world experience gave her invaluable insights and a practical perspective that she now imparts to her students. Dr. Ozdemir's academic journey began as a visiting lecturer at the University of Chester, marking the inception of her teaching career. Later, she joined Loughborough University London, Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, where she served as a University Teacher. During this time, she made significant contributions to the entrepreneurship field and enriched her students' academic experience. Before joining Regent's University London, Dr. Ozdemir taught a wide range of Management subjects, including Strategic Management, Business Failures, Family Businesses, and Research Methods, to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her unwavering dedication to fostering the intellectual growth of her students is evident in her commitment to education.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Ozdemir actively contributes to the academic community as a member of the Journal of Public Affairs and Journal of Performance Management, where she serves as a reviewer. Her involvement in academic publishing demonstrates her ongoing dedication to advancing knowledge in her field. Research Interests

Ozlem’s research focuses on Family Businesses and their characteristics, Family Business management practices where entrepreneurship, innovation, and cross-cultural management merge. Her current interest lies in investigating the innovation and entrepreneurship practices in family businesses and establishing how best practice performance and measurement can be conducted. Her ancillary interest lies in gender issues relating to women in management, national culture and family businesses, barriers for women’s entrepreneurship, primogeniture, and family businesses' succession process.

Teaching

Ozlem has teaching experience in a variety of areas in Business and Management fields ranging from Strategic Entrepreneurship and Innovation to Enterprise in Action.
