Professional Biography
Dr Roslan Bakri Zakaria is a seasoned innovator and entrepreneur with over thirty years of diverse industry experience. He offers a unique combination of academic rigour and practical expertise in the classroom.
His professional journey encompasses various sectors, primarily in technology, digital services, and social development. He has successfully launched six start-ups: four in the technology and digital domains and two on digital social initiatives. This entrepreneurial experience has fostered a profound understanding of innovation,
entrepreneurial ecosystems, and the challenges and opportunities presented by dynamic, ever-changing environments.
Before joining Regents University London, Dr Zakaria held senior leadership positions in both the public and private sectors, including restructuring a governmental organisation under the direct oversight of a Prime Minister. His
contributions to social entrepreneurship and youth development have significantly influenced governmental operations and transformed the relevant sectors.
His research interests are centred on the intersection of organisational innovation, transformation, and digitalisation, particularly concerning privatised governmental institutions. He has provided advisory services to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the reconstruction of citizen-government trust and have consulted for a ministry to develop a Digital Trust Framework and Policy.
Dr Zakaria is passionate about inspiring and empowering the next generation of leaders and innovators. He firmly believes in the efficacy of experiential learning and endeavour to cultivate a dynamic and engaging educational environment where students can effectively connect theoretical knowledge with practical application.
He aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to thrive in today's complex and rapidly evolving global landscape.
