Joanna Paxton

English Language Teacher

About me

My name is Joanna and I’m an English Language Teacher at Regent's School of English. I’ve been here in this fantastic location teaching English to amazing students from all round the world since July 2024. With my interest in languages, different cultures and education, I enjoy learning about the world through my students whilst helping them to develop their confidence and abilities in English. I have experience in teaching General English to adult learners from elementary through to upper intermediate levels in both individual and group classes.

My career history includes EFL teaching, employability skills training and administration roles. I started my first English language teaching job in Japan in my early twenties, where I participated in the JET English Teaching Programme as an Assistant English Teacher. After returning to London, I spent some time in banking administration during which I developed my German language skills. Then I decided to refocus my career on people and helping others learn. I found work as an employability skills trainer, helping people including speakers of other languages develop the skills to find employment. This experience sparked my desire to return to EFL teaching in 2023. My aim is to use my skills and experience to support every learner to achieve the best results possible, personal growth, new opportunities and an enjoyable time in London.

Outside of work, I am committed to continuous learning and development to enhance and expand my teaching practice. I also enjoy playing word games such as scrabble, walking, exploring historical sites and cultural activities.
