Professional Biography
Jochen has been a professional photographer since 2000. That year, he moved to London after finalising a BA (Hons) Visual Communication in Germany. He started working for international clients across portrait, advertising and fashion photography. Clients include prestigious publications like Vogue, and i-D magazine. He also worked for global brands such as GlaxoSmithKline, Hyundai, Mazda, Nokia, Philip Morris and Sony (to name a few). In 2011 Jochen founded the production company Image Department Ltd, providing full-service support in the area of commercial image-making.
In 2014, Jochen started teaching full-time on a BA Fashion Photography course at Southampton Solent University. He further trained there on a MA Film Production, which he finalised in 2019. He has since worked on a number of his own film projects across documentary and auteur film, another passion he always had.
At Regent’s, he teaches as Senior Lecturer for Visual Communication across several programmes and leads the BA Advertising programme. Jochen has a proven record of initiative and innovation as experienced Higher Education programme developer. He led the developments of a MA Photography and a BA Fashion Film and applies his expertise and leadership to a great range of collaborative provision programmes.
Jochen started working as Link Tutor for Domus Academy Milan in 2020 and became the interim Director of Content Collaborative Provision in 2023.
He is an established External Examiner, both in the UK and abroad, regularly visiting Pearl Academy in India, one of the institutions he does reviews for in the area of Communication, Design and Fashion Media.

Research Interests
Jochen's research interest focuses around the animated image in the context of digital technology such as metaverse, blockchain and artificial intelligence.
Jochen is also involved in entrepreneurial projects in the e-Comm sector and takes a keen interest in a range of sales channels such as TikTok Shop.
