About Maria
Maria completed a four-year BA course in English Language and Literature at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Meanwhile, she worked as a private tutor of English as a Foreign Language in Greece for 3 years. After completing her BA degree, she attended an MA course in Translation at the University of Surrey in Guildford, UK. After completing her postgraduate studies, she worked within the translation and languages industry on translation, proofreading, project and talent management roles. Her experience involved working independently and as part of a team, providing training and supervision to junior members of staff.
In 2018, Maria obtained her CELTA certificate and since then she has been working as an English Language Teacher in different international schools in London. Besides that, she has taught Academic English and Study Skills for Higher Education and has experience delivering online English lessons to students located all over the world – most of them based in China, Indonesia, South America and Russia.
Maria’s interests include language development and speech production in second-language learning and is currently pursuing further academic studies on these research areas. Maria enjoys cycling, cooking and reading non-fiction books. She plays the flute and enjoys listening to jazz music.
