Professional Biography

Professor (Dr) Zubin Sethna is a Professor of Entrepreneurial Marketing and Consumer Behaviour. Previously he has worked in a variety of universities in the UK and, as an Associate Professor of Marketing, Zubin has been responsible for managing a postgraduate portfolio with approximately 1500 students and an income of over £15m. He has previously taught Innovation and Entrepreneurship on an AMBA accredited MBA programme. He is a graduate of The University of Stirling (PhD). He currently leads as the Head of PG Programmes for MSc Marketing Psychology and MA Enterprise. 

Professor Sethna is a qualified marketing practitioner (Chartered Marketer) as well as an entrepreneur. He has successfully launched six businesses (one of which won a UK National Award). In his capacity as Managing Consultant at Baresman Consulting, he has integrated marketing strategy/communications with management consultancy and training for numerous organisations both in the UK and internationally, and across a variety of industry sectors (Maritime, Health Care, Professional Services, Music, Travel, Manufacturing, Retail, IT, Education and ‘cottage’ industries).

This passion for entrepreneurship and marketing is very evident in his book (with Dr Roz Jones and Dr Paul Harrigan) 'Entrepreneurial Marketing: Global Perspectives' (Emerald Publishing, 2013), which remains as the leading text in the EM field.

The 3rd Edition of his textbook, published by SAGE, fast became the UK and Europe's most popular textbook in 'Consumer Behaviour'. The 4th Edition was successfully published in March 2019 and is used by students around the world. Zubin is currently under contract with SAGE to co-author 'Entrepreneurial Marketing: Theory and Practice', which will be out in March 2021.

Professor Sethna has conducted research in the UK, Europe, India and China, and has raised external funding of over £670,000 for various academic projects. He is Co-Chair of the Academy of Marketing's Special Interest Group on 'Entrepreneurial and Small Business Marketing' and has been invited to conduct keynote lectures at HE institutions in the UK, EU, China and India. 

Professor Sethna is the Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Journal of Research in Marketing and Entrepreneurship (a B-ranked journal in the ABDC listing), and enjoys the support of a very illustrious Editorial Advisory Board. Professor Sethna regularly reviews for a variety of other marketing and entrepreneurship journals, as well as publishing in leading ABS journals.
