Professional Biography

Dr Cahill is the People Lead for the DPsych team, she also teaches qualitative research methods to post graduate students and supervises both professional doctorate and PhD students. She's a member of the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology Ethics Committee. She is also a qualified personal coach.

Research Interests

Umbrella theme of social justice and power, including exploring issues around mental health distress and wellbeing; women’s experiences of work and of emotion; the ‘body’; children’s experiences of education.

Research Supervision

Successful supervisor to 7 PhD students topics including: students experience of math’s anxiety, children’s experience of dyspraxia in the UK education system, African-Caribbean women’s experience of stroke, Para-Olympic athletes’ experience of education, children’s understanding of teacher emotion in the classroom and an evaluation of tDSC in the community and Men’s experiences of Domestic Abuse. 

Supervised to completion 25+ Professional Doctorate students (Educational, Occupational and Counselling) and currently supervising 5 Professor Doctorate in Counselling Psychology students.
