The main student finance package may include, but not limited to:
- Tuition Fee Loan – English students
- Maintenance Loan – English, full-time students under 60 only
Total amount if funding is awarded upon completion of assessment of student application for Student Finance, and is communicated to students by the means of Entitlement letter from SFE.
Tuition Fee Loan helps pay for your course. Maintenance Loans and Grants help with living costs (e.g accommodation, books, bills). Loans must be paid back, please see more details on loans repayment on SFE website.
Maintenance grants will no longer be available to new applicants from the 2018-19 academic year.
Nationals of non-EU countries resident in the UK may also qualify for support, please contact Student Finance for eligibility criteria.
Please note, tuition fee loans for English nationals cover up to a maximum of £6,165 per annum of tuition fees at Regent's University London. This loan will not cover the entire undergraduate tuition fee.
Alternative providers like Regent's meet a diverse demand for higher education which supplements the HEFCE funded public sector provision. However, such providers are subject to a different regulatory scheme and, whilst the Government recognises the contribution made by such providers, fee loans for students in the alternative provider sector are capped at £6,165 as opposed to the £9,250 for those studying in the HEFCE funded sector.
The government has no plans at present to change this policy.
How to apply
Students can apply for Student Finance England loans from 27 June 2022 for the 2022-23 academic year. Please note that students cannot apply for funding for the academic year any later than 9 months after the start of the course.
Students are advised to have funding in place with SFE by Thursday 12 September 2022 to ensure that payments are received in a timely manner.
All students in receipt of Student Finance are required to bring their Entitlement letters to the new students registration from week commencing Monday 19 September 2022, depending on the course.
For the purposes of maintenance payments for new students, please note that we are required by UK regulations to confirm student registration to student finance only after we meet with students in person. As a result, your maintenance funding will be sent to you between the 1st day of studies commencing, up to 5 working days after this date. This will be paid directly into your bank account.
Registration for Student Finance will be confirmed for students with fully approved entitlement only. So if you haven’t received your entitlement letter yet (in post or online), please check with Student Finance.

Please don’t send your passport, instead please send a certified copy as explained in the notes for the application form.

How your SFE funding is disbursed
Tuition fee loans are disbursed in 3 instalments directly to Regent's University London once your attendance is confirmed to SFE.
The dates and percentage to be disbursed to you will depend upon your start date. The below is an indication of how your eligible SFE funding is received by us:

Students, who have withdrawn, have been suspended, or went on a Break in Studies will be reported to SFE, which will reduce the amount of Tuition fee loan they will be getting. This may result in outstanding balance payable by students, especially in situations when a payment plan was set up to assist with tuition fee payment.
Maintenance funding for eligible students will be disbursed in 3 instalments directly to students’ bank account as per Entitlement letter once students’ registration is confirmed to SFE. Please note that as per new regulations, registration of new students will be confirmed to SFE only upon verification that they have physically arrived to start their course, which we hope to do during Induction week. This means that there might be a delay with disbursing first instalment of your maintenance funding, please make sure you have access to contingency funding if this happens.
Students, who have withdrawn, have been suspended, or went on a Break in Studies will have their eligibility for maintenance funding re-assessed by SFE, which may result in SFE reducing their maintenance funding, and some students will be required to pay back some of their maintenance funding as a result of this re-assessment.
Requirement for students with status of Migrant Workers
We have been informed by SFE that effective immediately, release of maintenance funding for these students will be conditional upon a proof of employment, which they will need to provide to SFE prior to every maintenance payment being made. Failure to provide proof of employment prior to each disbursement of maintenance funding will trigger re-assessment of their application for Tuition fee loan only, and they may be re-assessed as ineligible for maintenance funding.
