Join Professor Brett Kahr to explore how to succeed more impactfully in our psychotherapeutic careers, develop a clinical practice and collectively contribute to the advancement of the profession through research, teaching and outreach. A Consultant Psychotherapist at The Balint Consultancy, Professor Kahr works full-time with individuals and with couples and families from his Central London consulting room.

Professor Brett Kahr

Professor Kahr is a Senior Fellow at the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology in London, an Honorary Director of Research, and an Honorary Fellow of the Freud Museum London. He is Chair of the Scholars Committee of the British Psychoanalytic Council and, Honorary Fellow of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. In 2024, the British Psychoanalytic Council presented him with the ‘Outstanding Professional Leadership Award’.

Professor Kahr is the author of twenty books and series editor of over eighty-five volumes. He is a media psychologist and served for years as Resident Psychotherapist at the BBC. He has appeared extensively on radio and television. He has also contributed widely to publications including The Times and speaks at universities, clinics and mental health training organisations, as well as at public institutions ranging from BAFTA to The Science Museum.
