Kwong Loke, Regent’s Senior Lecturer in Acting, has received a 4-star review in The Guardian: ‘deeply committed performances, movingly acted’ - for his performance in What Remains of Us. The play opened on 3 March and ran until 12 March 2022 at the Bristol Old Vic, in association with Bath Spa Productions and Korea National University of Arts.
The production follows the story of Seung-Ki (Jung Sun den Hollander) who hasn’t seen her father Kwan-Suk (Kwong Loke) since she was three. Separated by one of the world’s most militarised borders, they come face to face again in this compelling story based on the state-organised temporary reunions of divided Korean families.
As an acclaimed actor (The Great Wave National Theatre, Pah-La Royal Court), Kwong has been teaching Liberal Arts on the Acting degree at Regent’s since 2010. Taking on a holistic approach to teaching, he is passionate about supporting the artistic development of students. ‘In order to succeed in the arts, you must be curious and constantly seek to discover what inspires human behaviour – which is then expressed through acting’ he comments.
