Further 2025 awards season nomination success for Regent’s staff

The 2025 BAFTA nominations were recently announced and it’s inspiring to see a Regent’s staff member and alumnus featured in the list.

Regent’s BA (Hons) Film and Screen Production graduate and Technical Demonstrator for the Film and Media Department Luis Garcia is an Associate Producer on Irish language film Kneecap, which has been nominated for six BAFTAs including Outstanding British Film, Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer and Best Original Screenplay.

This follows the news that Regent’s Screenwriting and Producing Lecturer Line Langebek has been nominated for an Oscar with the Danish language film The Girl with The Needle.

Director of Content for the Film and Screen Production and Screenwriting and Producing courses Mike Peel said: ‘we’re thrilled to see not one but two of our staff members feature so prominently in the 2025 awards season nominees.

To have two prestigious feature films represented globally from such a small department is testament to the quality of the practitioners in our teaching team and, in turn, to the expertise that is being passed on to our students as we train the next generation of world-class filmmakers.’

The winners of the 2025 BAFTAs will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday 16 February.

Kneecap is available on general release.
