On Thursday 28 March the inaugural Regent’s Sports Awards were held to commemorate the sporting achievements of the student body.
The event saw students and coaches from across Regent’s sports teams including men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s football, mixed volleyball and polo coming together to celebrate team and individual sporting achievements.
“This is an exciting time for sport at Regent’s, it is great to see the high engagement from our sports teams and to celebrate our sporting talent,” commented Melissa Steingass, Sports Officer.
Jamie Giles, winner of the Services to Regent’s Sport award, added: “I was greatly honoured to be recognised for my efforts in bringing more sporting opportunities to students and staff alike and am keener than ever to get the University in to the wonderful sport of running. It means so much to have the support of the University”.

Special guest for the evening was Nicholas Colquhoun-Denvers, the former president of the Federation of International Polo (FIP). Nicholas presented the two Filippo Corsini International Polo Scholarship in association with the Federation of International Polo students, Georgie Pask and Clara Forstner, with their FIP Badges, which acknowledged their commitment to Regent’s polo. Both girls will now represent FIP as youth ambassadors for polo.
“After my start in polo last fall I have been training every week to give nationals our best shot. None of this would have been possible without Clara, Georgie and Kitty who were there for us every step of the way and for that I’m very grateful to them all,” said Cristianne Sanjines Andrade, recipient of Polo Player of the Year.

Congratulations to all winners and those who are part of Regent’s sports teams.
