Lecturer's film listed in Top 25 documentaries of 2020

Lecturer in Directing, Dr Ken Fero's film Ultraviolence, has been listed as number 2 in Far Out Magazine's Top 25 Documentaries of 2020 and as number 11 in the same magazine's Top 50 Films of 2020.

The major film website describes the film: 'nineteen years in the making, UK documentary filmmaker Ken Fero has produced a startlingly prescient and powerful chronicle of a broken system which continues targeting marginalised individuals, people who have been stripped off their human rights. Ultraviolence is a lot of things: it is a letter to Fero’s own son, it is an archive of documented injustice, it is an unceasing battle-cry for equality but more importantly, it is needed.'

Dr Ken Fero commented: 'This is a really positive way to start 2021 and I am really pleased the documentary is picking up this international focus. Our students on the BA Film & Screen degree that worked on the film should be proud of their contribution and I look forward to giving more opportunities for our students to engage in this high profile film project in the future'.

Ultraviolence has previously been featured on Channel 4, and was selected for the BFI London Film Festival 2020.
