Regent's appoints Professor Fary Cachelin as new Provost & Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Professor Cachelin will join Regent’s University London as Provost & Deputy Vice-Chancellor on 1 June 2023.

An alumna of Stanford and Harvard universities, Professor Cachelin brings over 20 years of academic leadership experience to the role. She has served as a Head of Department, Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor in the US and UK, and has extensive experience in curriculum development, innovative teaching, interdisciplinary learning and new course development.

Throughout her career, Professor Cachelin has always put students at the centre of her work - improving engagement, wellbeing, retention, progression and employability.

Professor Cachelin said: 'To me, working with students and helping them reach their goals is the most rewarding part of working in higher education. I’m excited to be joining a university with an unrelenting focus on teaching and the student experience.'

As Provost & Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Regent’s, Professor Cachelin will be responsible for the successful delivery of the University’s academic objectives. This includes successful implementation of a progressive, new Curriculum Model and ensuring that all Regent’s students stay the course, enjoy the experience, and are equipped to go on and do great things. As part of the Vice-Chancellor's Executive Team, she will also work with the Vice-Chancellor on ensuring delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan.

About Professor Fary Cachelin 

Professor Cachelin is currently the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies, and a Professor of Psychology and Wellbeing at the Open University. 

Before joining the OU, she was Pro Vice-Chancellor of Community and Civic Engagement and Dean of the College of Applied Health and Communities at the University of East London. Before coming to the UK, she was Professor and Head of the Department of Psychological Science at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Prior to 2010, she was Professor and Chair of Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles.  

She received her BA in Psychology from Stanford University, and her MA and PhD in Psychology from Harvard University.
