Regent's lecturer, Dr Ken Fero, has been chosen as part of a select group of filmmakers for the BFI Southbank reopening in May. Special guests will include Billie Piper, Edgar Wright, Gurinder Chadha, Asif Kapadia, Cathy Brady, Peter Strickland, Ken Fero and Aleem Khan.
Dr Fero will appear in BFI Southbank’s ongoing African Odysseys series, on 26 June, in a special screening of his film Ultraviolence. Following the screening, Tony Warner (African Odysseys chair and activist in residence at UCL), will host a discussion with Ken and film contributor Janet Alder. Almost two decades after their earlier film Injustice, the duo will talk about their continuing fearless exploration of UK deaths in police custody and the campaign for justice.
Dr Ken Fero, who lectures in Film and Screen at Regent's, commented: 'It's an honour to have been chosen by the BFI Southbank for their reopening. We are looking forward to this national launch and it's a chance for the students who worked on Ultraviolence to take this opportunity to build their own careers and contacts.'
The documentary will be available exclusively to BFI Player subscribers from 5 July following an extended run at BFI Southbank from 25 to 30 June.

About Ultraviolence
Ultraviolence, a reflective documentary piece, was filmed and edited over a long period of time, but the significance of its messages has really come to the fore as the Black Lives Matter movement gained power.
Since 1969, there have been over 2000 deaths in police custody in the UK. This film follows the families of loved ones who have lost in custody and shows archival footage to document the tragic and undignified deaths that took place between 1995 and 2005. Fero encounters families devastated by these killings and subsequently thwarted in their struggle for justice.
