Regent's lecturer delivers character development workshop at ScreenCraft Writers Summit

Ted Wilkes - Regent's Lecturer

Regent's lecturer, Ted Wilkes, recently led a session on character creation and development at the 2021 ScreenCraft Online Writers Summit.

A tentpole event for aspiring and emerging screenwriters from across the world, the summit offers an opportunity for delegates to learn from Hollywood’s top screenwriters, executives, managers, agents and producers. Due to the pandemic, this year's event was all hosted online across two-and-a-half days with panels and discussions on topics from screenwriting craft, to business and career insights.

Ted, who lecturers in Screenwriting at Regent's commented: 'It was a real pleasure to be asked to speak at the summit. It’s great to see that there are so many writers who have used this time, when the industry is widely on hold, to further their craft by attending workshops and events like this. I’m excited to continue my partnership with ScreenCraft and Arc Studio to take the work that we do as tutors in the classroom out into the wider community.'

Wilkes shared the digital stage with leading industry talent such as Meg LeFauve, (Inside Out, Captain Marvel) Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, Watchmen), and Jac Shaeffer (Wandavision). His session was based on his work with fellow Regent’s academic Phil Hughes, for their upcoming book Character is Structure: Great Screenwriting Starts with Your Characters’ Choices, which is currently on track to be published by Bloomsbury in 2022.
