Regent’s relaunch London Alumni Club with alumna and Huckletree CEO, Gabriela Hersham

On Wednesday 24 November, Regent’s successfully re-launched the London Alumni Club with over 100 alumni in attendance.

Regent’s BA International Business alumna (2007), Gabriela Hersham, who is co-founder and CEO of Huckletree, joined us in conversation with Professor Geoff Smith, Vice-Chancellor & CEO of Regent’s University London.

On the evening, Gabriela shared her journey from concept to Series C funding. She came across the ‘co-working’ concept while living in New York and felt there would be an underserved market for it in the UK. With the help of fellow Regent’s alumnus, Alex Vaskovitch (BA International Business, 2006), Gabriela was able to raise funds for Huckletree as a workspace for the innovation ecosystem. In the conversation, Gabriela also touched on the reality of being an entrepreneur and mother, leadership, and the importance of creating a positive work culture.

The evening was hosted by the new Vice-Presidents of the London Alumni Club, Gurneet Singh (MA International Business, 2016) and Océane Krügel (BA (Hons) International Events Management, 2017).

Gurneet Singh, said: ‘The inaugural alumni event was a huge success and Gabriela gave compelling insight into the world of entrepreneurship. Alumni across different years, even different decades, were united after a tough 18 months. This was a great first event and I’m sure the next event will be as successful.’

Hannah Fox, Head of Alumni Relations, said: ‘It was great to see so many alumni joining us back on campus for the relaunch of the Regent’s London Alumni Club. The Vice-Presidents, along with the Alumni team, are really excited to harness the momentum and strengthen this fantastic network of Regent’s alumni both here in London and across the globe.’

Regent’s University London boasts the highest percentage of founders amongst UK universities, with 12% of graduates going on to form their own companies around the world, as well as alumni featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia and Time Magazine 50 ‘genius’ companies.
