Regent’s relaunches scholarship to increase access to higher education

Regent’s University London is aiming to improve access to higher education by relaunching one of its scholarships.

The Regent’s Achievement Scholarship, formerly known as the Regent’s Bursary, supports high achieving students to access a Regent’s education.

‘Lots of people in the UK face challenges in accessing higher education. Tuition fees are a barrier for many applicants to access independent universities. This scholarship is part of our ongoing efforts to expand Regent’s portfolio so we can help change this.

‘So far, students who have been awarded have achieved great things. This shows Regent’s is a place where applicants from all backgrounds can thrive,’ said Outreach Manager David Lewis.

The Regent’s Achievement Scholarship is awarded on academic merit and is means tested. Dave explains: ‘This allows us to better support outstanding future students by removing some of the financial barriers of attending an independent university. We hope that, with this scholarship, more students can pursue higher education at Regent’s,’ he finished.

The fund draws on data from the OfS and Student Finance England, which identify students who are most in need of support to access higher education. Successful applicants will receive a full fee-waiver for the duration of their course, an annual stipend of £1,000, and an allowance for on-campus catering outlets.
