Inaugural Isabelle Sieb Film Award presented to Regent's graduate filmmaker

This year’s recipient, Yerkezhan Baizan, won the award for her intense drama about a young woman’s experiences growing up in Kazakhstan

Recent graduates from the Regent's BA (Hons) Film & Screen course showcased their final-year projects at an event at the Everyman Baker Street earlier this month.

Students from Venezuela, Russia, Kazakhstan, Finland and the US gave the audience their unique perspectives on the world in a screening of memorable and thought-provoking films. Philip Hughes, Senior Lecturer at Regent's, said: 'There were some amazing films on show from the graduating class, telling a wide range of stories set in countries and communities across the globe, reflecting the international nature of our university.'

This year's event also saw the inauguration of the Isabelle Sieb Film Award. The award, named after alumna Isabelle Seib, is presented by Regent's to a graduating filmmaker presenting outstanding work at the end of their studies.

Isabelle graduated from Regent’s in 2013 and has since gone on to direct high-profile dramas for the BBC, Sky and Disney+. Isabelle told Regent's she was honoured to have this award presented in her name, which adds to a growing number of partnerships and collaborations celebrating the University's alumni success stories.
