Graduates bring electric energy to the catwalk with their designs at annual fashion show

Hosted in the iconic Regent’s Quad, the annual event gives students the chance to showcase their work with family, friends and industry. This year the event was attended by figures from across the industry including Harpers Bazaar, AQ Market, and the Royal Society, who praised the collections and designers for their electric energy on the catwalk.

Congratulations to all of our final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design students: Alexa Gabrielle Romero, Jack Zisfain, Madi Sanderson, Anzal Ismail Khowaja, Zariia Akhmerova, Natalie Theresa Krauter and Emma Sayf.

From designers and press

Johannes Warnke, multidisciplinary fashion designer, was in attendance as a catwalk judge at the event. He said, “the show was so joyful and diverse and I was impressed with the intricate textile work of patchwork, prints and self-made fabrics alongside complex pattern cutting. It was also fantastic seeing the show's opening and the second year students' growth from the first inspiration tutorial to fully finished runway garments.”

Jessica Davis of Harpers Bazaar commented, “it was so wonderful to be part of the graduates' show and to see all of their own aesthetics and personalities shine through. It’s so vital that we support young designers and creativity to keep fashion what it is - each student should feel so proud of their work and it’s so exciting to see where they all go next.”

Ruth Powell MBA called the show “exceptional, [with] impressive outputs from Regent’s talented young creatives - many influenced by legend, future visions and childhood memories; storytelling through impeccable textiles and extraordinary detailed workmanship. This was a professional show with outstanding models and created a delivery of the highest quality.”

"The runway was a platform for meaningful conversation," said Debbie Rowe, Photographer at the Royal Society. "Each designer brought a unique perspective and passion to the stage and used fashion as a tool to raise questions and spark discussions about important issues. From sustainability to body positivity, the show was a powerful reminder that fashion can be a power for good in the world. The energy was electric and the setting glorious."
