Isabelle Sieb, a 2013 Screenwriting & Producing graduate, has been nominated for Best Drama at the BAFTA Children’s Awards 2019 for her directing work on The Athena.
The drama series, which follows the fortunes of a group of students who attend a prestigious college of visual arts in present-day London, was Isabelle’s TV directing debut.
Isabelle said, ‘The Athena was my TV debut as a director and as such is a project very close to my heart. I couldn't be more delighted to share this nomination with the brilliant creator/writer Holly Phillips, Bryncoed Productions, and the incredible cast and crew.’
Following The Athena, Isabelle went on to direct the final three episodes of the critically acclaimed BBC One hit show Shetland, which also aired in spring 2019.
Phil Hughes, Course Leader, BA (Hons) Film & Screen (Screenwriting & Producing) said, ‘Isabelle’s incredible successes to date do not come as a great surprise to those of us who taught her during her time at Regent’s. The diligence, dedication, ambition and scope of her creative vision was always apparent, and it is wonderful to see her telling her stories to a larger audience and receiving richly deserved accolades. We’re all very proud of her.’
