Dr Elias Boukrami speaks with a Regent's student

Regent’s launches new MSc Finance & Investment programme for September 2020

From September 2020, applicants can choose to study one of four pathways under the new Finance & Investment programme, including Wealth Management, Financial Trading, Banking & Fintech and Energy Trade.

Elias Boukrami, Head of Programme, said: ‘The MSc Finance & Investment programme with Pathways has been designed to respond to current industry needs and developments. The programme adopts a teaching construct based on four ‘Cs’, training students to become critical, cooperative, creative and communicative. These are keys skills for tomorrow’s global leaders – especially in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.’

The Wealth Management pathway provides an insight into the professional financial planning processes required to manage personal finance, credit, investment and other wealth management tasks. It aims to train students to understand the needs of high net worth clients and institutional investors, and to identify solutions in line with tax and regulatory requirements.

The Financial Trading pathway will give students the required knowledge and practical experience for a career in trading or fixed income. Students will learn how to trade and participate in capital markets dealing with FX, equity, fixed income and derivatives products at both organised exchanges and OTC markets.

Banking & Fintech focuses on financial innovation and technology, with an emphasis on the impact of technological disruptions in the banking sector. Students will receive training to become a financial player that can not only evaluate risks, but also foresee and avoid future threats to the industry.

The Energy Trade pathway examines and evaluates the global energy trading industry and the economic and political factors that influence it. This programme prepares students for a career in trading within the energy market or as part of ‘back office’ operations, on both the supply and demand side.

Ahmed Masoud, Director of Future Students & Partnerships, commented: ‘The MSc Finance & Investment programmes reflect Regent’s innovative teaching through pathways that have huge importance on our modern global economy. At the heart of the programmes are creativity and enterprise, which underpin all our learning and teaching methods. Students will graduate with the ability to creatively and critically evaluate the issues that are important to current economic challenges.
