Regent’s ranked 6th in NSS for Student Satisfaction

Regent’s University London records another good result in the National Student Survey (NSS), in a year where universities across the UK have seen significant drops in student satisfaction. The annual survey shows an overall student satisfaction rate of 78% at Regent’s, which is more than 5% higher than the benchmark set by the Office for Students (OfS).

The university’s personalised approach to education, even when online, cemented its ranking as the 4th best London based university for learning community, and 6th for overall student satisfaction in the capital, up from 10th last year.

An early move to online teaching along with a carefully developed learning design framework has been key to this. This more active learning approach focuses on challenge-based learning and collaboration, rather than the traditional lecture/seminar format of transmission of content.

Strong feeling of community

One of the most striking elements for Regent’s in the NSS is the strong feeling of community expressed by the students. Scoring significantly above the benchmark (+8.5%) is impressive in a year that has been marred by a global pandemic that forced teaching online.

And yet, 82% of Regent’s students feel they have had the close contact with their lecturers and other staff when they needed it, demonstrating that the Regent’s approach to teaching works.

Professor Geoff Smith, Vice-Chancellor & CEO, said: 'This achievement is a credit to everyone at Regent’s which is why the strong sense of community experienced by our students makes me particularly proud. But we will not rest on our laurels. We’ve launched an ambitious change agenda designed to make a Regent’s education even more valuable in preparing students for a global career.'

From September we’ll be back teaching on our beautiful campus. Read more here.
