Alumna included in Harper’s Bazaar ‘Global Young Talent’ feature

A BA (Hons) Fashion Design (Marketing) alumna has been included in a feature in Harper’s Bazaar magazine for her graduate collection.

Seren Gaygusuz’s collection, entitled the Ruffle Army, comprises tulle dresses and military-inspired outfits which represent how women struggled to adapt their clothing choices under the rule of the Ottoman Empire.

Seren, who graduated from Regent’s in 2017, says she was inspired by the muted, sun-bleached colours from her hometown of Istanbul, and aimed to explore how clothing interacts with cultural identity.

The Harper’s Bazaar article, written in partnership with Fashion Crossover London, states that:

'Fashion Crossover London has identified wave after wave of emerging creative talent in the worlds of fashion, jewellery and textile design. Our Global Young Talents challenged the status quo with their cunning use of technology, textile manipulation and impeccable garment construction.

And she's just getting started – three of her tulle dresses have been featured in the magazine's recent January 2021 issue.
