Jana Spiekermann, a third-year student on Regent's BA (Hons) Fashion Design course, displayed her work at the GRAMMYs 66th annual red carpet event this weekend.
Mali-Koa Hood, of the band AR/CO, wore a sample of Jana's white midi wet look by SPKRMNN. The sample was handmade by Jana for the occasion.
Jana said, "Thank you Mali for the trust in the vision and process. [This is an] absolutely unreal milestone for me as a third year uni student! Sample hand made by me for my pre-collection."
Mali-Koa wore another of Jana's sample dresses for the GRAMMYs event at the SoHo House in LA a few days prior. In a message to Jana, Mali-Koa said "[the dresses] have gone down so well and getting so much love from everyone around me". She added: “[they're] honestly some of my favourite pieces ever worn”.
This isn't the first time Jana's designs have been worn by musicians. Last year, Jana designed a piece worn by artist Mahlia at Glastonbury. In late 2023, another of her pieces was worn by up-coming artist FOX GUNN whilst performing on stage.
Steven Dell, Course Leader on BA (Hons) Fashion Design, said: "A lot of these design concepts have emerged from her Pre-Collection project work that she has been exploring throughout the Autumn Term and will hopefully shape future successes for her graduate collection this term. Congratulations Jana! It’s so wonderful to see your designs come to life."
