Bedford College Geography graduates reunion

50 years after graduating, some of the 1965 Geography intake at Bedford College have found the way back to their old college.

'In the autumn of 1965 I was one of a group of forty-four undergraduates who began studying for degrees in the Geography Department of Bedford College, University of London in Regent’s Park – the site of what is now Regent’s University. On April 28th 2018 I and thirteen others, with guests, returned to recall three memorable years. Personally, I couldn’t believe my luck in going to Bedford College and was thrilled to be back. Some of us had kept in touch during the intervening years. Others had not met since graduating in 1968. We were particularly pleased to be joined by David Hilling, a much-loved Economic Geography lecturer who had joined the department in 1966 and gone on to achieve an international reputation.

'We had a wonderful time. Many friendships were rekindled as we ate in the Refectory, sat in our old lecture rooms and toured the grounds. The success of the day was guaranteed by the warm welcome we received from staff at Regent’s University. Shareena Sattaur, the Conferences and Events Co-ordinator couldn’t have been more welcoming on the day. Especial thanks are due to Rachel Azzopardi, Head of Catering & Events, and her team who showed great consideration and really put themselves out for us. Additionally, we were all impressed by the way in which Regent’s University is curating the site. The grounds and the building looked immaculate – rather better than fifty years ago in fact. Thank you!'
