Film and directing lecturers showcase short film in the US

Film and TV and Digital Media Production lecturer Mike Peel and Screenwriting and Producing lecturer Ted Wilkes recently had their short film, The Iris Echo, shown at the Ocean City Film Festival in Maryland, US.

Peel and Wilkes made the journey across the Atlantic to promote their 24-minute Sci-Fi thriller, of which focusses on New Slavoski – a secretive and ruthless totalitarian state ruled under the iron fist of the ‘Dear Leader.’

Their journey also made local news in Maryland with an interview featured on WMDT.com.

When asked how they felt about promoting their new film at the festival, Wilkes said: “We thought we've got to come along and really promote the film and see what Ocean City has to offer us.”

"We're doing the kind of things that our students are trying to do, which is get into film festivals and make films and promote yourself and your work," said Peel.

So far, the film has been accepted into: The Miami International Sci-Fi Film Festival, The Ocean City Film Festival, The Dublin Sci-Fi Film Festival and the Cannes Short Film Corner with more still to be confirmed.
